Brussels

Keen shoppers may have noticed a glut of Brussel sprouts in many stores. This has resulted in a price crash to the extent that they're almost been given away.

Research by The Spin has found two schools of thought as to why the veg popular on just one day of the year is suffering from poor sales.

South of the border hard nosed Brexit leavers are avoiding the product this year as they see it being linked to Brussels and the EU of which they want none of.

Another factor is that no TV chefs have suggested what to do with leftover sprouts this year so budget conscious consumers don't want to have waste food.

A few faithful souls did manage to get the pot of sprouts simmering away on the 1st December, we're just hoping that they'll be cooked properly for for the 25th.
