Some people seem a little deflated this year |
Many shops are reporting low sales compared to last year and car showrooms will sell you a diesel car for the price of a tin of shortbread.
What's driving this lack lustre sense of consumerism? Have we finally reached 'peak' buying?
The families on the TV ads look as happy as ever and we've yet to see one having to resort to a food bank.
If you haven't maxed out your credit card as yet there's only 19 days to go, but you'll have the whole of Jan, Feb, March, April, May to pay it off before you need it again for your summer holiday
We're unsure if any garages are open in Nairn for that last minute special gift on Christmas day so hurry up and get spending or we'll just have to cancel the event.
Don't forget that most shops will be closed for a whole day so make sure you get really stressed by doing a big shop at the last minute.
If you're stuck for something to do over the holiday you can always wander along the beach and look at the new unaffordable housing, or saunter up the High Street and reattach a decoration or two to the Christmas trees.
Whatever, we hope you all have a joyous holiday with plenty of quality time with your family, TV and sitting in the huff in your bedroom.
Christmas, bah humbug
I remember one Christmas Eve going into Burnett's the bakers on the High St and ended up helping clean up and serve customers whilst we all had a good dram. Now that was real Christas spirit.
