Harbour blame

It's no going well at the harbour.

We understand that two departments are at each other's throats in terms of blame.

The harbour people reckon the subsidence of the road should be paid for by roads budget as it's well, a road.

But the roads folk say it's the harbour wall that's subsided, therefore repairs should come out of the harbour budget.

Whatever, this standoff isn't going to get the problem fixed quickly as currently there is £2.51 in the harbour budget box, and only 55p spare in the roads money box and that includes tea money.

It looks as though the only way to get this fixed is for major crowd funder to be launched.

A casual look at the steel on the harbour and pier walls suggest that it's lasted quite well since it was installed in the 1930's but it wouldn't take a genius to see that all of it is badly rusted and who knows when the next collapse will happen?

You get the feeling that the harbour now has a limited life and it would cost millions to replace the rusting metal. Will the current damage ever be fixed?

More importantly though, where do the scaffies go now for their lunch break?

  1. Any truth that the community councils are organising a Jumble Sale to raise funds and that Laurie has donated one of his old pullovers already and Fergus Ewing helping out with a spare Cromarty Firth Port Authority advent calendar to raffle?
