Nairn Rocks

The rag from Leopold Street informs us this week that the council is aiming to solve the broken harbour problem by filling some of it with rocks.

This is just weeks after the council spent thousands of pounds emptying the harbour of sand and gravel.

If the rocks work then I'm sure we'll all welcome the road opening again.

We'll have to see as to how many more rocks both the harbour and the piers need to keep them standing.

With the stones in place will there still be room for the new pontoons? It's not the most elegant of solutions but it's probably the most expedient and more importantly the cheapest.

The business case for dredging the harbour has gone a little pear shaped, but if the rocks give the harbour a few more years of life then they're to be welcomed.

  1. We've been banned from taking breadcrumbs to feed the ducks, so maybe now the bairns should collect a few rocks from the beach to drop in the harbour? #SaveNairnHarbour
