We're not sure as to how many people will notice but Nairn library has now closed.
Some will say it was inevitable, books have become the domain of the elderly population and younger people read all they want from their smart phones.
A service as such will be provided in the short term by the mobile library van that hopes to park in all of Nairn's streets for 10 minutes every six months.
A long serving councillor expressed their dismay at the loss but accepted that within the current climate of cuts it was on the cards for a long time.
We understand that newspaper sales could soar as library staff report that up to three people visited the service everyday just to read the free newsprint.
Books will now be on loan for a year at a time with the option that borrowers can buy them at the end of that time. A library spokesperson stated that this new service will be a little like leasing a car with the option to purchase at the end of the loan
