Flu man achoo

The media pump out a map of the UK with red marking the areas where flu has spread to.

People travel so it came as no surprise when the last remaining outposts in Scotland, Caithness and Orkney went from blue to red. It had spread.

Most of us will give ourselves the virus. We'll get germs on our fingers and inadvertently insert them into an orifice, usually our eyes, nose or mouth. It's easily done, a quick scratch and the flu germs will enter your body.

We get the flu germs on our hands through contact, money, a handshake or a stair banister for example.

If you want to teach yourself not to put your fingers near your eyes, nose or mouth there's an easy but painful solution. Not chop them off but handle some raw chilli, it'll stop you in your tracks.

At home try and use separate hand towels and keep work surfaces clean.

Wash your hands for several minutes in hot water using soap as often as you can.

Good luck with the chilli. Try and stay flu free!
