Here at the Spin we're mainly about fake or fake'ish news but sometimes a topic goes toxic.

The proposed development of land owned by Nairn's councillor Elizabeth MacDonDonald has been well publicised in various medias.

Planning permission has been applied for her land in order to build some 115  houses along the Lochloy Road.

Numerous objections have been raised, traffic being a main one at the Lochloy Rd/A96 junction.

But there's worse. If you object to the development you can still (just about time) do so via Highland Council.

The other natural course to raise concerns would be through your local councillor and this is where it all falls down. Cllr Liz MacDonald is still a Nairn councillor, and if you have any objections to her planning application you'd potentially have to sit down in front of her to voice them. How wrong is this?

It's a clear conflict of interests but oor Liz seems intent on sitting it out no matter what.

Local democracy has gone very, very wrong, and although we don't like it we the local populous are not likely to be the winners.

We ask, why on earth is this person still a councillor?

  1. She should have resigned long ago. Her only role seems to be to enjoy her salary out our expense, shameless person.
