It's a drive in Saturday

An article in the Gurn has reported upon a community council meeting whereby it was stated that there was a possibility of a drive through food facility being built next to Sainsbury's in Nairn.

This prompted a member of the audience at the CC meeting to suggest that this would herald the death of the high street

One councillor attending the meeting suggested that some young Nairnites (under 30) already went through to Inverness for such facilities.

The Spin went in search of anyone from Nairn using one such facility in Inverness and met up with self proclaimed boy racer 'Yum Yum'. 'Yeah there's a few of us drive through from Nairn. Getting your food from a drive through is cool, no getting out your car like. Once we score we're foot down back to Nairn where we used to eat it at the harbour'.

Asking Yum Yum if he's prefer a local facility in Nairn he wasn't sure. 'Yeah I'd probably use it but we all like the drive so Sainsbury's then the harbour wouldn't really be good'

Apparently the Maggot carpark is now a temporary harbour replacement for the boys.

Visiting Nairn High Street of an evening it's apparent that quite a few folk don't mind the walk from the car to the carry oot so we reckon there's mileage yet in some of our High Street shops.
