Welcome to Nairn?

It's a time of year to reflect and ponder as a new one starts.

Our thoughts today turned to visitors. How welcome would a couple be, one heavily pregnant if they turned up in Nairn. Okay if they had money to rent privately but not if they were in need of social housing?

The now defunct parking at the harbour saw many camper vans visit with some staying overnight. There were suggestions that we should start charging them money for this privilege.

Travellers often get a bad press. As far as we know some don't pay council tax so don't have wheelie bins. This means they sometimes leave rubbish behind. Should we offer them wheelie bins to help alleviate any mess?

The numerous ships that freely choose to anchor in the firth. Calls for charges have been made. Perhaps our Harbour Master could be sent out with a receipt book. Tenner a night seem fair?

Our latest visitors have been starfish. We thought these hapless visitors were pretty benign but no dogs can die if they eat them.

Welcome to Nairn
