And so this is Christmas

Highland Council has run out out of money so the Christmas lights remain up in Auldearn.

Other Highland towns and villages are not so lucky as their lights have been taken down and under the new Highland council budget cuts (3 out out of your 4 councillors voted for this) Christmas light will never be paid for again in the foreseeable future by our council

Plucky Auldearn have decided to cash in on being the Christmas village of the north and have announced they're to be to be the 'Highland Christmas town'.

This will include an all year round  Santa's grotto in the village shop beside the post office counter.

Of an evening visitors will be able to cruise through the High Street and admire the splendid 24/7/365 Christmas lights and during opening hours children young and old will be able to visit Santa.

VisitScotland will promote this initiative. Some Nairnites are very unhappy with this plan as for years they've struggled to obtain even a single bauble from Highland council for their two High Street Christmas trees and now will get nothing. Christmas is cancelled in Nairn.
