Harbour news

Harbour news, well there's none and as we creep into yet another month no sign of anyone starting the much needed repairs.

The 'road closed' sign says it all; apparently the work isn't urgent even though the area is pretty much key to Nairn being a tourist attraction.

It's not only a road closed sign, it's a sure indicator that as far as tourists go Nairn is saying try elsewhere.

Meanwhile Highland Council is threatening to introduce parking charges. For Nairn that will not only effect tourism but also the remaining shops on the High Street.

Dreaming up new income streams is all very well, but who is looking at the cost in other areas. No doubt if pushed Highland Council will hire a very expensive consultant and by the time you take into account the cost of meters, someone to empty them, traffic wardens, cost of issuing and pursuing parking tickets it's going to be a very long time before parking charges would run into profit.

The road closed sign might very well be changing to Nairn closed at this rate.
