Kayak queues

Kayaking is becoming very popular in the waters in and around Nairn, so much so that there are plans afoot to place buoy marker lanes off Nairn's beaches.

An anonymous kayaker said that on sunny evenings it's chaotic out on the firth and is akin to being in a bumper car as paddlers pile into one another.

At the moment kayakers don't need to hold any sort of certificate of competence although they should understand basic seamanship in order to avoid collisions with other vessels.

With the current zero pace of repairs of the harbour road they might soon be the only craft that can use the harbour.
