More housing at Lochloy

Dhaka is supposed to be one of the most densely populated areas on earth but with more building plots for sale at Lochloy Road we're beginning to wonder how long it'll hold the record?

Land is scarce in Nairn itself so it makes sense that the town will gradually sprawl along all it's edges.

Planning permission for the development was knocked back for Nairn South and Deveron Homes pulled out of the massive development at Sandown.

Now we have Cllr Liz MacDonald's land at Lochloy, planning permission is being sought for some 115 houses.

The problem for major developments is that of infrastructure. In the case of Nairn South there were the narrow roads and the railway bridge to contend with. The latest Lochloy application sees many objections relating to traffic entering the only junction onto the A96.

Nairn's ancient structure wasn't built to cope some of the proposed developments although some have worked okay in the past. Perhaps building a small number of houses is the answer even if the net effect on roads etc will be the same in the end?
