Daily bread

The recent media hype and cold snap has seen some supermarkets short of food.

We noted with dismay that Nairn Sainsbury's appeared to have no loose mushrooms for sale today.

Bread and cow's milk seem to be the food that most of us eat as it's those items that we buy in bulk at the first sight of snow.

Realising the sudden value of hard to get items an enterprising person is offering a loaf of bread for just £50.

No doubt some will see this as a bargain and snap it up. Many will just expect their artisan bakers to trudge through the snow to make their usual £5 organic rye sourdough, proving you can have your bread and eat it.
