It was a dirty pitch at Fort William for sure, it was covered in both mud and grass. There was a strong wind for most of the 90 minutes and as manager of Nairn County Ronnie Sharp recounted 'the pitch wasn't very wide'.
Despite the hostile conditions Nairn County managed for the most part to outplay the Fort William shinty team, hitting the woodwork a good few times. Other shots headed towards the Ben and were well wide of the mark. A final score of 3-2 to Nairn seemed a fitting final score line. Nairn turned down a return match to be played as shinty game.
