Many Nairnites are over the moon as it's been announced that a planning submission has been placed for a huge food retail development next door to Nairn's Sainsbury's store.
The dozen or so drive thru fast food outlets are 100% US versions of these stores, and all will offer authentic fast food.
This will be the first such venture in the UK and is part of a much bigger US trade deal that'll see cheap hormone loaded meat and bleached chicken enter the UK food chain both of which will be served at this new venture.
Staff for the US fast food outlets will fly over from the states and it's thought accommodation will be provided by the purchase of two Nairn hotels.
The development has already been tagged the 'chippie strip' and it's thought it will attract tourists from all over the UK.
It's thought that the venture will be opened by Donald Trump sometime in the summer.
In a return deal Asher's will be sending some of their pies and yum yums over to the states with members of Nairn's curling team as pie ambassadors.
The chippie strip developers have agreed to pay £1M a year towards NHS healthcare and have expressed an interest in opening a Disneyland in Nairn if a suitable site can be found.
