It's understood that Highland council has so many financial black holes that it's looking to offload some areas that are currently under it's control, Nairn being one of them.
Nairn has had close ties with Moray in the past including constituency boundaries so the move wouldn't be too traumatic, and many Nairnites have no love of Glenurquhart Road that often seems very Inverness centric.
The icing on the cake however might be the monies that Moray is prepared to spend on maintaining it's infrastructure including harbours. As we're all very aware Highland council has spent very little on our harbour, the road still remains closed, and had there been inspections in place might we have avoided the collapse of the harbour wall?
