Boom bang a bang

Unexploded bombs from World War II continue to be found on Nairn's beaches.

The bomb that was detonated yesterday by the bomb squad was much larger than estimated.

The explosion was felt over several miles but luckily there was no reported damage to persons nor property.

The bomb was found by the local Coastguard who were searching with metal detectors to try and find a truck they had to abandon that became stuck in the sand with an incoming tide.

Members of the public are urged to call 999 should they find a large rusting lump of metal on the beach and under no circumstance should they try and kick it!
