The recent Highland council budget proposal saw the cost of the bins rise to £35.00 this year.
Just like many other council services the brown bin costs have risen way above inflation.
Most folk have seen little increase in their wages in years, in some cases not even keeping up with inflation so in effect they're being paid less.
Some people have just started using their green bins for garden waste. Not so good for the environment but better for their pocket. If brown bin charges continue to rise each year the Spin can see more and more folk rejecting the service, after all we all somehow dealt with garden waste before the era of the bins.
