Various groups and individuals have expressed their thoughts on a McDonalds fast food outlet coming to Nairn.
Views are mixed, from those in favour to those opposed. Fast food is not new in Nairn, witness the numerous outlets in Nairn that offer such fare or follow the trail of Academy students of a lunchtime.
One local ornithologist has voiced her fears that a McDonalds could increase the local gull population.
She says ' we have a unique situation in Nairn whereby the most likely place that takeaway meals from McDonalds will be eaten is at the harbour area. We've already seen problems with litter in the area, either dropped from cars or the frequent overflowing of the council bins. Add to the issue food from McDonalds and we might well see an increase in the local gull population'.
