Meters are here

Hot on the news that Highland council had purchased parking meters the day after their 2018 budget proposal was voted through, we can report that overnight these have been installed along Nairn High Street.

It would seem that despite promised consultation cited by three of our councillors this was not to happen (was it ever?) and parking charges are now in force in Nairn.

Charges are £2 for twenty minutes on the High Street with no returning for two hours.

It's too early to say if the charges will effect foot fall on the High Street but it seems likely. Many parking spaces were devoid of cars this morning.

It's thought that the council hopes to earn £35,000 this year through the parking charges in Nairn.

None of the Parking Charges Three councillors were available for comment but we expect to see plenty of activity by the public on social media etc.

It seems to staff at the Spin that Nairn was hung out to dry. No consultation, hardly democratic and apart from a few posters little chance to demonstrate or allow local groups to vent their feelings. Shocking
