After the successful dredging of the harbour the council are now making improvements to Nairn beaches.
Recognising the lack of space on Nairn beaches when there's a high tide contractors are digging a huge trench at the low water mark.
It's hoped that this excavation will hold sufficient sea water to stop the tides being so high and will also aid flood prevention.
A council spokesperson said 'once the work has finished we envisage that the tide will only come halfway up the beach allowing both locals and visitors to enjoy the beach at all times'.
The spokesperson seemed stumped when asked by the Spin as to how boats would get in and out of the harbour after this change. We note that for now the work seems to have come to a standstill.
