Parking meters unveiled

Hot on the heals of free Wi Fi on the High Street Nairn councillors today unveiled a mock up of the first parking meter for Nairn.

Highland council hope to install the first of these in the next few weeks.

All the High Street meters will be cashless alleviating the need for them to be emptied of money.

The new High Street Wi Fi will enable this process so would be customers will just have to wave their contactless cards near to the meter.

Highland council hopes that there will be alternative parking areas that will take cash for those unfortunate not to have a contactless card, but has no clear date as to when these might be installed.
