Police are urging the government to look at banning the sale of large balls of string.
This follows an incident on Nairn beach whereby a male flew a kite way higher than the 200m limit set for drones.
Police are concerned that Nairn is just a few miles from Dalcross airport and is often on the flight path.
A police spkesperson said 'it was clear that the kite flyer had obtained a very large ball of string that enabled him to fly his kite to a great height. We're obviously concerned for public safety and would support a ban on the sale of large balls of string as clearly these can be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
At the time of going to press we've been unable to glean a response from government sources with respect to the request for a ban.
